Halqa-e-Arbab-e-Qalam (HAQ) is a literary forum that was established in 1984 by Dr. Urooj Akhtar Zaidi (President of HAQ) in Detroit, Michigan.
It is an organization which consists of local and international writers, poets, as well as scholars of Urdu from India, Pakistan and North America. The main objective of HAQ is to reach great heights and diversity in the field of Urdu Poetry and Literacy by conducting mushairay, conferences, and seminars and connecting various people from around the world to discuss, debate, critique and rebuttal the wonderful language of Urdu on a yearly basis.
By amalgamating top poets (prominent among those who attended HAQ events are: Ali Sardar Jafri, Ahmed Nadeem Qasimi, Dilawar Fighar, Shanul-haq-haqee, Qatil Shifai, Jon Elia, Mohsin Bhopali, Himayat Ali Shair, Mohsin Ehsan, Kaifi Azmi, Naseer Turabi, Ubaid-ullah Aleem, Zamir Jaafri, Jaganath Azad, Muneer Niazi,Nida Faazli, Bashir Badr, Gulzar, Rahat Indori, Pirzada Qasim, Wasim Berelvi, Iqbal Safipuri, Shamim Jaipuri, Hasrat Jai Puri, Girgit Ahmedabadi, Kaleem Ajaz, Raghib Muradabadi, Shahida Hasan, Najma Khan, Sehar Ansari, Manzar Bhopali, Jamil-uddin-Aali, Muneebur Rahman, and a host of others) writers, and scholars of Urdu literature HAQ creates a unique platform of Urdu scholarship for people living abroad.
HAQ and its policies are governed by a Board of Directors, which includes Drs. Sadiq Rizvi, Asif Beg, Hasan Rizvi, Latafat Hamzavi.
